Free Enrollment with “Milk Bottle Deposit” Until January 2026

Farmers, ranchers, and farmworkers can sign up for this self-paced course for free until January 2026. We have subsidies to support farmers! However, we ask for a “Milk Bottle Deposit”: A small deposit of $100 securing your place, which is fully refunded when you complete the course (like returning a milk bottle after enjoying the milk). Why a deposit? It helps you follow through – studies show you’re much more likely to finish an online course when you’ve made a financial commitment, and we want you to get there. Complete the course, and it’s truly free!

After this date, and for non-agriculturalists, the course will be available on a sliding scale basis. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.

Why is it Free for Farmers?
Thanks to generous grant funding, we can offer this course for free to farmers and ranchers. We encourage you to sign up before our funding runs out. For others, your financial contribution helps us continue offering this valuable resource! After our live cohort, we’ll open our asynchronous course at a sliding scale rate.

All curriculum is online, with applied activities you can do on your farm. The live cohort version will feature live online workshops on Tuesdays for 6 weeks from January 27th – March 3rd, 2026 with asynchronous work in between. After that, the course will be asynchronous. You’ll be self-paced through the 5 online modules and should complete the course in under 10 weeks. However, we highly recommend aiming for one module every week. 

We have made special pre-recorded materials for each of the 5 modules, such as podcasts and videos, totaling about an hour or two of material in each Module. In addition, you’ll have hands-on Applied Activities that can be put into practice right away and combined to make your Resilience Plan.

Live Cohort: Starting January 2026, we’ll run one live cohort with a small group of dedicated participants. You’ll be treated to a weekly guest speaker series, giving you access to top experts and experienced farmers, who will go deeper into different topics and strategies related to climate resilience. Your peer group will be a resource for you to support engaged learning, and you’ll have dedicated Farmer Campus educators guiding you through the course.

Asynchronous: After March 2026, we’ll shift to a “Self-Led” Course, where you set your timeframe, workload, and the pace. There will no longer be live sessions, but you’ll complete course content when it is most convenient for you. You can also access our library of recorded workshop series alongside the curriculum, featuring guest speakers and farmers.

The course content features lectures and case studies from California and Colorado, with larger practices and context from the Western Region, so it’s highly preferred that your operation be located in the West to make sure the content is relevant to your climate. We’ll give preference to Western farmers for the live cohort, but open it up after that.

However, while the material is designed for Western farmers, much of it is applicable to producers anywhere in the world confronting the realities of climate change – if you feel you would benefit, please join. 

Anyone regardless of region or profession is encouraged to join. 

Course materials are highly applicable for farmers, interns, apprentices, agricultural professionals, educators, students, and anyone with an interest in climate resilience in an agricultural context. 

While the content is accessible for many different learning backgrounds and styles, this course is currently tailored for those with a minimum of basic English reading and comprehension. 

Note: There is no scale requirement for your operation. Prior experience with climate resilient farming not required. Background in organic/sustainable farming and ranching also not required.

A computer & high speed internet connection to watch videos; a farm or land suitable for doing the practical Applied Activities; self-motivation to structure your time and complete lessons. You must also have a strong interest and desire to practice climate resilient farming or ranching, and the time to dedicate to the course.
